The Centralverein deutscher Staatsbuerger juedischen Glaubens was one of the largest and most significant of the Jewish organizations in Germany before World War II. It was dissolved in 1938. Born in Gnesen (now Gniezno, Poland) on September 27, 1901, Alfred Hirschberg was editor of the C.V. Zeitung from 1920 to 1938.
